Phone Attitude: How Reliable Are You?
Phones Phones Phones! we all have phones and love them. Phones are becoming a tinny winy part of us (if they are not already). Personally, I feel disconnected from the world whenever I decide to go on a phone break. The urge to pick it up keeps crawling in and almost chokes me.
With the advent of the internet and social media, we all can agree that we need phones to communicate, stay in touch and garner information.
The major purpose of a mobile phone is communication. Communication is defined simply as the transmission of information or knowledge. The question to be answered now is "do you communicate with your phones?" You might be wondering why the absurd question. It will be treated much later.
The real truth is that most of us are soaked in the world of likes, comments, pokes, follows and instant messaging and have forgotten that the real world exists. What is the real world? You may ask, Its a phone call away.
How reliable are you? The fastest means to reach a person and get accurate and quick feedback still remains a phone call, Let's analyse this question and answer honestly; if a loved one is involved in a ghastly accident, how does the information reach you?
You get calls regarding interviews, calls regarding emergency by the police or hospital, call regarding very important things. Most cases emails and any other forms are communication is secondary to phone calls and is majorly for reference purpose.
Back to answer the first question " do you communicate with your phone?" From my little survey carried out on this, people no longer have the calling attitude. Missed calls on phones are ignored and left to the caller to call again, also missed calls are quickly returned with instant messages rather than putting a call through. This is because people keep track of peoples' lives without basically hearing from them and knowing how they are doing. What people get to know about someone is limited to what the individual wishes to upload and share with the public.
Inculcating the habit of returning a call could save some one's life or proffer immediate solution to some one's dilemma, picking up the phone to hear from a friend, loved one, colleague, parent can impact on the person positively and you too.
Be reliable, be the person people can count on to reach and be reached and that shouldn't interfere with your social media skills. Have this in mind, a call is easier and creates more impact.
